~ Goodbye Fr. Isaac (September 2020)
With heavy hearts and few dry eyes, Holy Transfiguration said goodbye to our pastor at the end of service today, September 20, 2020. We have been truly blessed to have Fr. and his family with us since 2013. We look forward to further word on our new pastor who will be coming to us, along with his family, from a parish in Pennsylvania.
~ Elevation of the Cross – September 2020
Always a powerful service, on Sunday, September 13 we celebrated the Feast of the Elevation of the Cross. Here the Church remembers how the actual cross of Christ was discovered buried under a pagan temple. It truly was, is, “precious and life-giving.” Contact us if you would like to hear the story authenticated by witnesses of how the cross brought a dead person to life. After all, there were three crosses. Only one could be the cross of Christ. We are blessed to have a parish family who has been gifted a fragment of the cross of Christ – yep, the very same cross itself, by His Grace, Bishop Basil (it is the sliver of wood at the base of the cross under the Plexiglas).
Key texts from two hymns we sign at this service:
“O Lord, save Thy people and bless Thine inheritance, granting to Thy people victory over all their enemies, and by the power of Thy Cross preserving Thy communities.”
“Before Thy Cross,we bow down in worship, Master, and Thy Holy Resurrection we glorify.”
~ Chanting Resource Page Created (Summer 2020)
A significant addition to the HTOCC website is a Chanting Resource Page. Way to go Dr. Christopher Earles and Fr. Isaac!! May God bless you richly for giving us this gift.
~ New Service Guidebooks (September 2019)
Thanks to the tireless work and ministry of Ruth Kliewer, HTOCC now has beautiful, spiral bound service books that will be a great resource for the faithful – to say nothing of visitors. We also give thanks for the life and eternal legacy of David C. Patton (r. 4/17/19) whose memorial helped fund this project.
~ Kitchen and Fellowship Hall Remodel Project Complete (Summer 2019)
Two years in the making (and with a couple minor details remaining) Subdean Seraphim – Duane Kliewer – completed a comprehensive overhaul of our kitchen and fellowship hall. This took our weekly potlucks to new heights.
